The Face of Thy Lord

What Veil?
When Thou saidst,
Seek ye my face;
my heart said unto Thee,
Thy face, Lord, will I seek.
And thus was it revealed
unto me and every seeker
Wa yabqaa wajhu rabbika
zul jalaali wal ikraam :
And the Face of thy Lord
full of Majesty and Honour
will abide forever.

What Veil
but Thine own Glory
that dazzles our eyes
with frozen sunlight
haloed around our vision?
We talk in whispers
about breathtaking Beauty ,
Beauty we can only experience
cannot see
although the veil is thin.

What Veil?
Even the mountain
could not bear Thy Radiance
and crumbled,
it’s grasses scorched
and when Moses
( peace be upon him)
saw this
(he did not even see Thee)
he fell unconscious.

What Veil
but Thine own Glory
and the unworthiness
of our eyes ?
The trailing clouds
the dazzling mists
are thin :
give us eyes to see
hearts to love
souls to hold
what we behold.

Rain, Rain
at Samhain
the veil is thin
gather us in.
